ULTRA PARTS LTD
Under review is their hydraulic cam follower part number UCF265
Being a bit cautious of pattern components sample was purchased 21/2/02.
The sample was checked against a standard OE follower in terms of size, construction.
I dismantled the sample to discover a slightly different design inside, the piston was held into the body with a small snap
ring instead of relying on the valve cap. The actual mechanism was the same, employing a small ball bearing and tiny
spring to act as the non return valve.
Being happy that the sample was as close to the OE unit as could be and that it had been made by INA who manufactured
the original tappets I ordered a full set of tappets which arrived 9/3/02.

Unfortunately the set that arrived were not actually the same same as the sample:-
I emailed Utra Parts and they replaced the set very quickly with the INA type that I had ordered, simple mix
up at their order/picking process.......

If you order tappets for your C30SE engine, be sure to specify INA on your order.

The replacement tappets were delivered as promised and the original set collected. They were fitted about 500 miles ago and are
performing very well. I can't comment on how long they will last..........only time will tell.

Update 17th June 2008
Well, actually I can comment on how they performed, after a polite prompt from Ultra Parts !
I clocked up over 40,000 miles with the new tappets, I ended up scrapping the car, but sold the engine and fitted it into
a carlton diamond. The engine was virtually silent as far as the tappets were concerned. These tappets would be my choice
if I ever need more.

Note
I have checked the Ultra Parts website for latest info, and at this time they do not list tappets for the C30SE, however they list the
same tappet (UCF265) for other vauxhall engines, so if you ring to order, make sure you check your application with them.

As can be seen from the above screen shot, they state the manufacturer as Ultra-Parts Ltd, so again I would advise you check
exact origin of manufacture if you want INA tappets.

Update 9th January 2009

UltraParts have updated their website with a nice new slick parts search database.
They now list a dedicated part number for C30SE (and SEJ) UCF365

(Illustration modified to fit page)

I can not say if these are INA or another make, so contact Ultraparts if in any doubt of application.

From underneath the differences are obvious, the pattern does not have a manufacturers
part number stamped as per the sample. The walls were thinner, and generally the weight
was less that the sample or OE unit.

The original sample bears the same stamping as the OE unit, part number and manufacturers ident.

The oil groove and hole are smaller on the pattern unit.
