A common problem with heater matrix is that it will start to leak on average around 100k. It is inherently a bad design with many joins and 'o' rings. First signs are misted windows, damp front carpets, smell of anti-freeze. The only cure is a replacement unit. The later matix's available from vauxhall are slightly better with half the number of 'o' rings. There are units made from copper which are much better.

The following picture of an old matrix shows the corrosion at one end as a result of it leaking.

One of the problems with fitting the matrix in a manual 24v is that the clutch pedal gets in the way when sliding the matrix out.
In the end I found that by disconnecting the clutch master cyliner linkage allowed the pedal to travel a little more towards the bulk head. It was still a struggle to remove the old matrix, but just possible. I had to cut the edges of the opening to be able to slide the new matrix in
